Civil Engineering
KGI has extensive experience with Water System Design, notably 1800 ft. deep well heads, up to 1 mil gal reservoirs, pressure reducing stations, and pumps, at Palamanui, South Kona. All done for permits with the County of Hawaii, Dept. of Water Supply. KGI has also expedited many CoH-ED Grading Permits, CoH-BD Retaining Walls, and State DoH IWS Septic Systems.

Since 1995, Chris has specialized in testing concrete and rebar. After earning his Civil P.E. license (PE-9779) in 1999, he became qualified to perform a full range of Special Inspections under the Uniform Building Code. His inspections are essential for securing building permits, finalizing Certificates of Occupancy, and obtaining Engineer of Record (EOR) approvals.
With a strong understanding of Hawaii’s unique climate, geology, and construction standards, Chris ensures every project meets compliance requirements, minimizes risk, and moves forward smoothly.

*After the hurricanes of 1991 in Florida, Texas, and Hawaii, a national system of Special Inspections was created. KGI has been Certified (CoH-BD, SI#0011) since 1995. We are certified in all categories, including concrete, steel bolts and welding. Special Inspections are often required by the CoH-BD for Permit, and are necessary to obtain the Certificate of Occupancy (CoO), per the approvals of the Engineer of Record (EoR).
